My favorite model is a 1967 Westfalia Bus. It has all the style with split windscreen, and capability to camp in it. They are icons.

Have to agree with the Thing! My niece just bought a purple one and it looks like the Barbie Jeep! I do love my 99 new beetle though. Teresa

The 1967 VW Beetle was a very unique Bug. Most of the features on this bug were a one year only combination. From the door handles to the back up lights, the dash knobs to the combination of the newer headlight configuration with the old "towel rack" style bumpers, it is truly unique and my favorite.

The greatest and most recognized model Volkswagen, in my opnion, ever produced ,has to be the Type 2 transporter--or, VW Bus. Preferably the early splitty-1950-1967. A total icon-everyone 40 years, or older, has a story about a bus they had owned, or some memorable experience they had with one. It had to be that adorable "smiley face" it presented to all that approached as it putted down the road. Why else, would anyone place a personable "name" on 2100 lbs. of stamped out sheetmetal like--Oscar-Matilda-Herman-or Fillmore?

Moby. My 1st car. I bought with cash I saved since i started working at age 15. My charcoal metallic grey '90 Golf GL Wolfsburg ed. all original stock. Killed at rush hour 4 St Patty days ago by a blond in a Cobalt. Wish my light had been red. I stop at red lights. It was so badly hurt I had to put it out of it's misery. 4 garages and 2 insurance companies agreed. I went to MRI and Moby went to the grave. I had always thought I would euthanize Moby at a compact demo derby. Made ineligible for figure8 race due to frame damage. i i i i
