hi everybody arround, i m selling scripts , but i m interesting about learning how to build websites , what's the right way to learn: go to a school to learn or buy a cd about building the websites ?? thx for each reply.
I think it is a combination of learning yourself, through online research and magazines building up a network of people to bounce ideas of and build your knowledge and then keep moving forward. Going to school to learn can be a great way to add qualifications to your knowledge but be carefully you fully understand what the course entails as there are varying courses which can lead away from your chosen path. As they tend to teach a little bit of everything rather than a lot of something may be you would have chosen.
If you decided to make money from selling your scripts, then hire a web designer to build you a simple CMS website that later on you can just take over and manage on your own.
Many successful internet businessman do not even have slight idea how to make websites, but they pay 100% focus on marketing and business strategies, and let the IT people handles the technical stuff.
One can learn the craft from books and reference materials combined with practice, practice, practice. However, some formal education in the form of classes might speed the learning process. My advice would be to take a couple of courses to get a firm groundwork, then do the more in depth study on your own.
I agree, unless you are extra-oridinary and can balance both technical and marketing together that promotes substanable growth, best to stay with marketing and hire an IT professional. There are sites available where you can post your requirements such as guru.com and scriptlance.com and let the IT people bid and if satisified select one. Do not choose the first and make sure you specify terms and deadlines. You may want to look into Wordpress and then have someone create a custom template fir your site. Meanwhile, for own learning which you sure gain, helps better to be able communicate effectively with the IT, perform a search on free online courses and webinars first. Always helpful to list any specific skills or requirements are needed immediately. Hope this helps?
