MM Bluewillow.....what a beautiful....magickal name! When I was a child, we had a huge willow tree at the corner of our property. It was my magical place....and many dreams were hatched under that old willow :-). I, too like Scott Cunningham's books. I think he is straightforward in his writings, and he was a solitary too. I'm currently reading Starhawk's books and find them fascinating too. I'm still thinking about what my choice for favorite book will be:-)
Merry Meet, All. I don't profess to be that widely read, but I'd have to go with A Witch's Bible by Stewart and Janet Ferrar. Granted, it's a bit dated by 2009 standards, but is very good for historical underpinnings and basic whys and wherefores as well as how-tos. Hope everyone has a truly beautiful day - In love and light - Sivadni
Merry Meet Sivadni... A good choice. I still haven't made my final decision on this subject. I'm trying to decide but the choice is difficult. Hmmmm....I'll just keep thinking for a bit. Thanks for the input...I'm always so interested to see what others are reading. I currently am reading wiccan mysteries by raven grimassi and am investing some study in stregheria.
Merry meet everyone. No favorite book yet, but just finished American Witch which was helpful and I am now reading The Spiral Dance. I can't wait to read Living Wicca. ~Swanlady
MM Swanlady, I'm currently reading spiral dance too! I also bought earth path but haven't started it yet. I also am reading Starkawks fiction...Fifth Sacred Thing. It's really good! You'll like Scott Cunningham's books. I think he was a gentle soul who had a teaching gift. :-). Anyway....happy reading, and let us all know your review of the book when you've finished reading it.
Well I have so many that I truly like so it would be difficult to choose. I guess I would have to go with an old favorite and the one that I USE the most which is Cunningham's Complete Book of Incense, Oils and Brews even though Magickal Household by Cunningham is my #1 favorite. I have over 50 books on wicca and magick and Incense, Oils and Brews is my best reference tool.
Merry Meet Lady Luna... I, too, love scott cunningham's books. They are straightforward and to the point. I've lost count at how many magickal books I have....enough that I now need a new bookshelf...LOL.... I have "Incense, oils and brews" in my kitchen cupboard along with marilyn daniels book "kitchen witchery". It's a good one too. I like reading marian weinstein's books too....oh well.....I hope to create a book of shadows with bits and pieces that have been meaningful to me, and maybe eventually that will be "the one book I would keep" :-) Anyway....it's nice to chat with you. BB PJG
Merry Meeting to you all, I am new to the neighborhood, my name is Aly (short for Alexandra). I have found all these books helpful but I am fond of the garden witchery books as well. If I had to save one it would be my book of Shadows which was started by my great, great, great, great grandmother and passed down being added to by each generation. I can't tell you what having a generational book like that has meant. Something to think about as you write yours and pass it on to the student the universe sends for you to teach. :D Have a miraculously mysterious day! Aly
MM Aly, I agree with you. I have "informational hand me downs" as well.I believe that when spirit comes knocking, it is oftentimes in the form of a memory or a written word from those who have gone before. Yours post serves as a gentle reminder for us to keep our books updated and alive. Blessings to you, and welcome aboard! Purplejayegirl
