Can anyone recommend any good cheap wines? Are there such a thing? Or is it pretty much "you get what you pay for"? I'm particularly looking for a good dry red, that is very drinkable on a daily budget.

Thanks!!

Do they still make those big jugs of red mountain? Thats pretty cheap. But good..hmmm no, not good. Cheap red, cheap red, hmmmmm I'm not much of a red wine drinker. Whats cheap??? under 10?

I always liked Kenwood's Zinfandel and other reds.

This is right up my alley! :) Like you, I love a good red wine but definitely on a budget. Here are a few of my personal favs:

Banrock Station (under $5) this is from Southern Austrialia and very good for the price! http://www.banrockstation.com/home/index.html

Mark West (under $10) - very good! I've only had the Pinot Noir but I believe they make a Merlot too.

PepperWood (under $10) - closer to $5 and very good...comes in different varieties.

I just got a wine last night at Harris Teetor, Jacobs Creek Reserve 2005, a Shiraz. It was delicious! Rated well in Consumer Reports too!
