Hello Fellow woodworkers, I'm looking for a certain kind of tail vise,-I'm not sure of the correct name or term for it though. Perhaps someone could suggest a new or better place for me to search for this item. I'm converting a large slab of a butchering table into a proper cabinetmakers bench. The tail vises that I have seen on the market are not configured for what I wish mine to do, or the way that it gets mounted. I explain, The moving portion or jaw will be a one foot long four inch deep block that moves to the right. the jaw is the right hand front section of the table. I wish the hardware to be mounted onto the section of bench which is directly behind the jaw. That is to say I don't want to reccess the hardware into the table top by carving out huge chunks of the rest of the table (4"thick BTW) I'd rather have all that hardwre off to the back, and under the table, and have the jaw slide on a large strong dovetail slide. Any thoughts or suggestions ??
