Hi mate, To start collecting zippos you either decide which subject you wish to collect or zippo lighters in general. i mean that if you decide on a subject, to name a few: camel, zippo clubs, harley davidson, military( army, air force, marine or/and MOST POPULAR Navy[ all usnavy ships have zippo lighters]. i collect naval zippos only,of many nations - i have zippos of warships from 15 nations. i would prefare focusing on one subject and ebay helps you a lot, as you can find any type and subject you wish. regards freddie from Malta
Yeah, you have to find what you like. For me personally I like the litho Zippos as opposed to the metal designs. I'm partial to the Camel, gambling, and pin-up themes myself.

i would start with the solid colors first like the brass and chrome then go to the colors like orange black red stuff like that because of the cost is so low and ur just starting out therefore u dont wanna put to much money into it and not like it a few months from now. there is a store on here that is super cheap and they are brand new zippos{the real thing} that are def worth the price. top brand items is the name. also if ur bidding on here be sure to LOOK BEFORE YOU BUY. alot of people sell the zippo cases without the actuall insides. happened to me before lol. but start out small and work your way up. also walmart sells them really cheap i got a couple of them for 7 or 8 bucks brand new plastic wrap and all so look out there.
I've heard that widowmakers*lighters on this site is an honest seller with a great variety to choose from. If you have the cash, look for limited editions, prototypes, artist versions...etc. Just collect what you like, don't really focus on the investment aspect of it. If you see a mint 1933 original Zippo being offered for very little money, CONTACT ME !!! There's so many differant kinds and designs of Zippos, I'm sure you'll find plenty to fall in love with.
Hello all, I personally have not limited myself to any particular theme, I just decided to focus on only Zippo brand lighters. (As they are the best.) Otherwise I figure I would eventually be overrun with lighters. I Generally buy what appeals to me and what I can afford. I have been collecting Zippo lighters for over 20 years now. Hello I would start with lets say this is an example animal zippos- there are so many so you go again tiger zippos- and you start collecting all the tigers you can and grow from there lets say go to lion and so on and so on, hope this helped
